(三国演义)

The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is written by Luo Guanzhong at the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty. It is based on Chen Shou's Records of the Three Kingdoms and Pei Songzhi's annotations as well as folk stories and legends of the Three Kingdoms, after artistic processing, it becomes a long-form chapter historical romance novel.

《三国演义》是元末明初小说家罗贯中根据陈寿《三国志》和裴松之注解以及民间三国故事传说经过艺术加工创作而成的长篇章回体历史演义小说。

BriefIntroduction(简介)

The Romance of the Three Kingdomscan be roughly divided into five parts: the YellowTurban Uprising(黄巾起义),the Rebellion of Dong Zhuo(董卓之乱),powers jockeying(群雄逐鹿),the rivalry between the Three Kingdoms(三国鼎立),and the return of the Three Kingdoms to the Jin Dynasty(三国归晋).

It describes the history of nearly a hundred years from the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty to the beginning of the Western Jin Dynasty. It mainly describes wars, and tells the story of the political and military struggles between Wei, Shu and Wu in the last years of the Eastern Han Dynasty. Finally, Sima Yan unified(统一) the three countries and established the Jin Dynasty. Romance of the Three Kingdoms reflects the transformation of all kinds of social struggles and contradictions in the period of the Three Kingdoms. It also summarizes the great historical changes of this era, and shapes a group of all-powerful heroes of the Three Kingdoms.

《三国演义》可大致分为黄巾起义、董卓之乱、群雄逐鹿、三国鼎立、三国归晋五大部分，描写了从东汉末年到西晋初年之间近百年的历史风云，以描写战争为主，诉说了东汉末年的群雄割据混战和魏、蜀、吴三国之间的政治和军事斗争。最终司马炎一统三国，建立晋朝的故事。反映了三国时代各类社会斗争与矛盾的转化，并概括了这一时代的历史巨变，塑造了一群叱咤风云的三国英雄人物。

Battle of Red Cliff(赤壁之战)

The most famous episode in the Romance of the Three Kingdomsis the Battle of Red Cliff(赤壁之战). Facing Cao Cao's march attack to the south, Liu Bei sent Zhuge Liang to the east of the river to form an alliance(结盟) with Sun Quan. Zhuge Liang fought with his words(舌战群儒) and stimulated Zhou Yu with his wisdom, and finally made Sun and Liu allied forces. With the cooperation of Zhuge Liang, Zhou Yu, Pang Tong, Huang Gai and other civil and military generals, Sun and Liu allied forces took a series of steps and plans, such as sowing discord among the enemy (反间计), coordinating one stratagem with another(连环计) and deceiving the enemy by torturing his own man(苦肉计), and finally defeated the Cao army with a weak force overcame a powerful opponent(以弱胜强) in the battle at Red Cliff.This war shows a glorious chapter in the history of ancient Chinese wars with defeat with a force inferior in number.

三国演义中最有名的情节就是赤壁之战。面对曹操南征之势，刘备遣诸葛亮往江东与孙权结盟。诸葛亮舌战群儒、智激周瑜，最终促成孙刘联军。在诸葛亮、周瑜、庞统、黄盖等文臣武将的合作下，通过反间计、连环计、苦肉计等一系列有步骤、有计划的行动，孙刘联军在赤壁一战以弱胜强大破曹军，谱写了中国古代战争史上以少胜多的光辉篇章。

Borrowing Arrows with Thatched Boats(草船借箭)

In the Battle of Red Cliff, Borrowing Arrows with Thatched Boats(草船借箭) is a famous allusion(典故). Zhou Yu instructed Zhuge Liang to make one hundred thousand arrows in ten days. The wise Zhuge Liang realized that this was a trick, but calmly said, "It only takes three days."Later, with the help of the heavy fog, Zhuge Liang took the advantage of CaoCao's suspicious character and hired a few thatched boats to lure the enemy. Finally, he borrowed 100,000 arrows and accomplished a remarkable deed.

在赤壁之战中，草船借箭又是当中著名的典故。周瑜使计让诸葛亮造箭(限十天造十万支箭)，机智的诸葛亮一眼识破是一条害人之计，却淡定表示“只需要三天”。后来，在大雾天的帮忙下，诸葛亮再利用曹操多疑的性格，调了几条草船诱敌，终于借足十万支箭，立下奇功。

Zhuge Liang(诸葛亮)

Zhuge Liang is one of the most brilliant figures in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. First of all, the biggest characteristic of Zhuge Liang is loyalty. There are countless wise men in the Three Kingdoms, but few of them are as loyal as Zhuge Liang. For him, Liu Bei'sthree visits to the thatched cottage(三顾茅庐) were a gift of gratitude. So when he accepted the post, he didcontributehis loyalty. Secondly, Zhuge Liang is an extremely wise man, which shows in the stories of Presenting A Bold Front to Conceal Unpreparedness(空城计), Borrowing Arrows with Thatched Boats(草船借箭),Wooden Ox and Gliding Horse(木牛流马). Especially in the Presenting A Bold Front to Conceal Unpreparedness, it not only reflects his wisdom, but also shows the brave and resourceful image in the face of danger with the author's tense and exciting description.

诸葛亮可谓是《三国演义》当中最光辉的人物之一。首先，诸葛亮性格中最大的特点是忠诚，三国当中智者可谓数不胜数，但是忠诚如诸葛亮的却少之又少。对于他来说，刘备的三顾茅庐是属于有知遇之恩，所以当他出山的时候其实就是贡献忠诚的。其次，诸葛亮是一个极其智慧的人，空城计、草船借箭、制造木牛流马等，尤其在空城计这一事件当中，不仅体现了他的智慧，在作者紧张刺激的描写中，我们看到了一个大军事家临危不惧、有勇有谋的形象。
